Resource person Dr. Manjappa Sarathi started the session with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of communication, including sender message, channel, and feedback. The different types of communication, such as verbal, non-verbal, written, and visual communication, were taught. The key elements of effective communication, such as clarity, conciseness, coherence, and credibility, were discussed in detail. The common barriers to effective communication, such as language barriers, cultural differences, and others, were addressed. The importance of active listening in effective communication, techniques to stay attentive, and asking questions to clarify were being taught. The session also explores the role of communication in leadership and its impact on motivating teams and achieving individual goals.
The session concluded with a recap of key points and action steps for students to improve their communication skills. Resources for further learning and development were provided to support ongoing growth in communication competence. About 42 students participated in this competition. The session focused mainly on helping students develop the skills necessary to communicate effectively in various everyday contexts.
Resource person Mr. Rajeev Swamy delivered the importance of the soft kills and how to adopt their language, tone, and communication style based on the situation they find themselves in. The students were introduced to a range of general situations they might encounter in daily life, such as social gatherings in colleges and with faculty conversations. The use of appropriate vocabulary at the right time of usage is very necessary. The importance of non-verbal communication in context-based speaking was emphasized. Also, students learned how gestures, facial expressions, and posture can enhance or detract from their message in different situations. The students got very good exercise in simulating various situations.
Our expert, Mr. Rajeev Swamy, also covered the importance of active listening in understanding the context of a conversation. Students learned techniques for attentive listening and how to ask clarifying questions in the conversation itself.

About 73 students participated in this competition. The online session was aimed at expanding student participation and helping them improve their vocabulary and word usage skills.
Resource person Mr. Prakash C.H. delivered the importance and how to identify the use of words with similar meanings to enrich their vocabulary and express themselves more effectively. The session explored antonyms, helping students to understand the concept of words with opposite meanings and how to use them appropriately in various contexts. Practical strategies and examples were provided to teach students the art of one-word substitution, enabling them to express complex ideas easily.
The session became interactive as exercises and quizzes were conducted for students as part of their learning experiences, allowing them to practice identifying synonyms, antonyms, and one-word substitutions in context. Students learned how to apply similar words in everyday communication and to understand those words meaningfully while reading. Our students had significantly expanded their vocabulary and gained much confidence in their ability to choose the right words to convey their message and ideas effectively. Also, students are encouraged to continue practicing at least one word of antonyms, synonyms, and one word substitution daily so that it helps their vocabulary skills.
