JITD NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service program sponsored by the Indian government and overseen by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Commonly referred to as NSS, this initiative is characterized by the active involvement of students in organizing and participating in community service activities, with the aim of fostering a sense of engagement in the nation-building process.

The NSS program operates on the cardinal principle of student-led organization,where both students and teachers collaborate in community service endeavors. This collective participation enables them to feel a deep connection to the tasks involved in nation-building. The program's motto, "Not Me, But You," embodies the spirit of democratic living and emphasizes the importance of selfless service.

The essence of the NSS philosophy is encapsulated in its motto, highlighting the belief that an individual's well-being is intricately linked to the welfare of society as a whole. Consequently, NSS volunteers are encouraged to dedicate themselves to the betterment of society, reflecting the overarching goal of contributing to the overall welfare of the community.


The main objectives of NSS

1. To enable the students to understand the community in which they work.

2. To understand themselves in relation to their community

3. To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process

4. To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility

5. To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems

6. To develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities;To Gain skills in mobilizing community participation
