Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was the first engineer of India. His birth anniversary on 15 September is celebrated as Engineer's Day in India every year. He received the Bharat Ratna Award for his excellent skills and had set up schools & several engineering institutions across the country. Every year India celebrates National Engineer’s day on September 15 to recognise and honour the achievements of the great engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Along with India, Visvesvaraya great works are also celebrated in Sri Lanka and Tanzania on September 15 as Engineer’s day.
Ms. Vinayaka, Final Year Student/IIC Student Coordinator of Civil Engineering Department, JIT welcomed the gathering. Theidea presentation is organized in respective departments. Students from different colleges across Karnataka were participated, like BIET, GMIT Davanagere,Jain Polytechnic, Davangere, Bhadra institute Davangere students are participated. We had around 71Teams(more than 150 students) registered for IDEATHON-2022. All events were completed by 4.00pm with the winners list. Lunch was provided for all participants, co-coordinators and faculties.
The event was conducted in two phases, Phase-1 was conducted at department levels with HODs & senior faculties as panel members. Out of which 11 teams for shortlisted for Phase-2 presentation.
Phase -2 Presentations were judged by Dr. B N Veerappa & Dr. S B Mallur, UBDTCE, Davangere. Out of 11 teams top three teams were awarded with cash prize, certificates and momento.

Students weredistributed with the cash prize of 2000rs for 1st prize, 1500rs for 2nd prize, and 1000rs for third prize. It was attended by more than 150 participants of colleges which included students and faculties. In association with the IIC Council and Department of CS&E, they organized an online webinar topic, “World IPR Day” from 10.30am to 12.00pm for UG & PG students and faculities. The event started at 10.30a.m in SF-224. A welcomed a speech by Ms.Hamsa Sudha of 6th sem CS&E student. The Expert Speaker Sri.Mr.R Arun Kumar,Master Trainer, EDII,Govt.of TamilNadu informed the gathering that the day is celebrated to raise awareness of the impact of how patents, ducopyright, trademarks and design affect our daily life and also highlighted patent types of patent, need for filing the patent by the academicians.
In online mode, on a virtual platform for all UG and PG students and faculty attended the webinar. The Speaker spoke on basic information about intellectual Property Rights , patents, copyrights, trademarks, patents, patent offices, filing patents for academic research, literature work at national level and also gave insight about filing foreign patents. The speaker also emphasized how academic institutes, through their innovative ideas and research inventions, can lead to entrepreneurial activities among the students, thus raising the quality of education in academic institutes. The position of India in patent filing could be raised in future if all the academic institutes and research organizations worked hand in hand towards sustainable work.
Outcome:
He stressed converting the final year project into a valuable product and the need to file the patent. He was also briefed about how to file a patent on an innovative product developed by an individual person.
The faculty and students participated in large numbers and interacted with the resource person.
At the end of the session, students & faculty raised questions . The purpose of a prototype is to test the usability, functionality and design of a working model. The purpose of a proof of concept is to help decide whether the idea is feasible and to ensure it will work as intended.
Prototype testinghelps you validate ideas in the early stages of design, identify and fix areas of friction, test usability and save money by reducing the risk of rework. There are manytypes of prototypes, ranging from a verysimple sketch or mockup to a fullyinteractive, high-fidelity tool.

The event was completed by2.30pm. The event was completed by 2.45pm with the winners list. Post completion of the inaugural ceremony, the students exhibited their prototype to the judges.
