JIT Davangere Excels in Energy Literacy Initiative, Earns National Recognition, Awaits Solar Yatra Visit

Jain Institute of Technology, Davangere (JITD), has achieved remarkable recognition in the field of energy awareness and sustainability through its active participation in initiatives by the Energy Swaraj Foundation.

The foundation, established with a vision to promote energy independence and climate responsibility, works extensively across the country to educate citizens on sustainable energy practices. It was founded by Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki, a renowned solar energy expert and Professor at IIT Bombay, who is leading the nationwide movement of "Energy Swaraj" by encouraging individuals and institutions to adopt renewable energy and sustainable lifestyles.

Energy Literacy Training (ELT)

JITD successfully registered for the Energy Literacy Training (ELT) Program conducted by the Energy Swaraj Foundation and demonstrated outstanding commitment from both faculty and students.

The institution earned the Silver Certificate for achieving more than 500 ELT Certifications, followed by the prestigious Gold Certificate after surpassing 1000+ ELT Certifications. This remarkable achievement reflects the institute's dedication towards energy education and environmental responsibility.

Climate Clock

As a mark of appreciation for its significant contribution towards promoting sustainable energy practices, JITD was honoured with a Climate Clock.

The Climate Clock serves as a visual reminder of the limited time available to address climate change. It symbolizes the urgency of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adopting renewable energy, and implementing sustainable practices to build a better future.

Energy Ambassadors

Adding to this achievement, six students from JITD were recognised as Energy Ambassadors. These students will actively promote awareness on energy conservation, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable practices within the campus as well as in the wider community.

Solar Yatra

Further strengthening its commitment to sustainability, JITD has also registered for the Solar Yatra, a unique nationwide awareness campaign led by Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki.

The Solar Yatra is a long-term journey powered by solar energy and aimed at spreading awareness about climate change, energy conservation, and renewable energy adoption across educational institutions and communities throughout India.

JITD is eagerly awaiting the visit of the founder as part of this Solar Yatra, which is expected to further inspire students and faculty members to embrace sustainable energy practices and innovative climate solutions.

Institutional Appreciation

On this occasion, Dr. Ganesh D B appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the faculty members and students. Dr. Manjappa Sarathi highlighted the importance of such initiatives in shaping socially responsible engineers. The programme was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Preetha P S.
